Laura Mvula wowed the stars at Queen’s Club yesterday as she stole the spotlight from centre court with her own tennis antics.

The singer battled it out in front of tennis fans Sir Ian Mckellen and Gemma Chan at the Moet & Chandon suite in a hard-fought game of table tennis.

Later on the trio watched as Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov fought off Feliciano Lopez in the Aegon Championships to take the men’s trophy in a close match in front of an excitable crowd.

But the three-set thriller, which Dimitrov won 6-7 (8-10) 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (8-6), couldn’t take away from the real event of the day.

Mvula proved a daemon with the bat as she battled it with her sister Dionne.

Sir Ian seemed to enjoy the event, making the most of the Moet & Chandon Champagne on offer.

The Lord of the Rings star, well-known for his love of tennis, grumbled that he doesn’t get to drink much champagne when he’s at his Limehouse pub, The Grapes.

Elsewhere Ophelia Lovibond, Daisy Lewis and Alice Eve where also in attendance.
