Liam Gallagher has revealed the reason he wished his brother Noel a happy birthday.

Liam, who has been feuding with his brother for years, said he was inspired to send a birthday tweet after the terror attack in Manchester.

He tweeted: “Happy 50th rkid stay young LG x.”

Asked if it was difficult, he told Radio X: “Well me mam did tell me to do it. Nah she didn't. I swear to God she didn’t.

“Nah, I just woke up, you know with all the stuff that went on in Manchester, I woke up and I just thought: ‘You know what? I’m going there. Happy Birthday’.

“You know what I did mean it. He’s my brother, man, and I love him. As much as we get into all the tittle and tattle and that, you know, I wish him well man”.

Unable to resist making a dig, he added: “And plus, I wanted to remind everyone he’s an old fart now. Especially after his mad party.”

Emotional Liam Gallagher concert honours Manchester victims

Noel turned 50 a week after the attack at Manchester's MEN arena. Twenty-two people were killed and dozens injured when suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated an explosive at Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman concert.

Liam dedicated his Manchester homecoming gig to the victims and donated all the proceeds to the Manchester Evening News fund raising appeal.

The former Oasis frontman closed his 14-song set by leading the crowd in a moving a cappella rendition of Live Forever.

Speculation is rife as to whether Liam and Noel will reunite to play at the Manchester benefit concert on Sunday.

Black Eyed Peas singer Taboo sent the rumour mill into overdrive when he shared a tweet and tagged all of the acts performing, as well as Oasis.
