Gallagher, who played ahead of Muse, paid his respects to the 17-year-old on Twitter.

“Just heard about that young kid who was found dead in his tent at reading so sad RIP kid x,” he tweeted.

The teenager – who has not been formally identified – was pronounced dead after emergency services were called to a tent in the campsite shortly before 2am on Monday.

Thames Valley Police said his death is being treated as unexplained.

His next of kin have been informed.

Gallagher made his solo debut at Reading and Leeds – and made sure to keep fans up-to-date with his weekend on Twitter.

He fumed at the festival’s Northern organisers for banning swearing.

Making it clear he was unimpressed with the rule, he tweeted: “Apparently your not allowed to swear now in LEEDS stop the world I'm getting the F*** OFF as you f****** were you f****** c**** s**** t****.”
