Liam Payne throws support behind UK Eurovision hopeful Lucie Jones

Liam Payne has thrown his support behind the UK’s Eurovision hopeful.

Lucie Jones will by vying to win over viewers when she represents the UK at the annual competition in the Ukraine.

Jones – who made it to The X Factor live shows in 2009 – bumped into the former One Direction singer at a radio station and he said he will be rooting for her.

“I bumped into Liam Payne the other day when we were doing some radio stuff, he wasn't on [X Factor] my year but we all kind of know each other because we're from that world,” she told 888sport exclusively.

“We had a really great chat about it and he wished me good luck from them! I was really just saying congratulations to him about little Bear.”

Jones said Payne didn’t show her any pictures of his son – who he has with Cheryl – but that he seemed “happy”.

She said: “I didn't get the honour of seeing any baby photos, we were in the lobby of a radio station so that wasn't going to happen. He seems so happy.”

Jones fought off competition from five other hopefuls to represent the UK at this year's competition.

Her song was co-written by Emmelie de Forest , who won the Eurovision Song Contest for Denmark in 2013.
