Liz Hurley has told how she lorded it up on the set of her new series The Royals and revelled in the attention she received as the Queen.
The actress brought her 12-year-old son Damian as her date for the London launch of the show, in which she plays Queen Helena in a fictitious and racy royal family. She held Damian’s hand as they walked the red carpet at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, Knightsbridge.

Speaking about the show, Hurley said: “Every day on set I’d wear a crown, I’d hold my sceptre, I’d have an orb and I’d have all the extras bowing and courteous. So it was fabulous.” Damian is the son of the actress, 49, and businessman Steve Bing. She said getting the part in The Royals “seems incredible. I feel very fortunate to be here. I took eight years off to raise my son and I didn’t know if I’d ever work again. It’s a second coming.”
The Royals is her first star role in a TV series. She said : “It was very interesting for me to do television because I had done movies for years. It’s fantastic to see such a buzz about the show.”
Also on the red carpet last night were fellow cast members including Merritt Patterson and William Moseley.
The show is on E! UK at 9pm tonight.
