Madonna is known for her eclectic style – but the singer opted for a more unusual look as she stepped out in a scary white mask in New York.

The 57-year-old was keen to go incognito as she took her children Rocco and Lourdes to see Sleep No More on Broadway.

The singer donned the white mask worn by audience members during the stage production along with her children as they made their way into a waiting car after the show.

Madonna was barely recognisable in a pair of loose fitting jeans, a green silk bomber jacket and a t-shirt emblazoned with a woman’s face as she was escorted out of the venue by a body guard.

Her eldest son Rocco also attempted to disguise himself by wearing the white mask underneath a black cap while Lourdes was pictured with the accessory in the back of a car.

The outing came days after Madonna defended her tribute to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards.

The official Twitter account for the BET Awards allegedly tweeted a post mocking Madonna’s musical tribute to the late singer.

Hitting back at the tweet, the Material Girl singer posted an Instagram of herself alongside the caption: “Wearing the jacket Prince gave me back in the day without permission from BET. Lol! God Bless America. And yes that's Marilyn! (sic).”

Madonna sang Nothing Compares 2 U before being joined by Stevie Wonder for a duet of Purple Rain at the Billboard Awards, but the performance was branded “offensive” by some while Piers Morgan branded it “poor karaoke”.
