Madonna left fans furious after she arrived on stage more than two hours later than scheduled.

The singer, 57, had been due to start her show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Australia, at 9pm but did not take to the stage until after 11pm.

Addressing her late arrival on stage, Madonna told the crowd: "We started late - that hardly ever happens. You were here too early.

"You should have taken your time doing your hair and makeup. Then I wouldn't have been late."

Some disappointed ticketholders demanded a refund for tickets which were priced in the hundreds of pounds.

Australia's Courier Mail reported fans walked out before the gig started so they could catch the final train home.

Fans took to Twitter to blast her “diva” behaviour while others said she was lacking “respect” for her followers.

Live Nation, promoters of the Rebel Heart tour, has pre-warned ticket holders of timings ahead of her Thursday night show.

A statement on Facebok read: "Madonna's Rebel Heart performance will proceed this evening in Brisbane. Following a late start last night, fans should note, the timing for tonight's performance may also be delayed.

"We encourage concert goers to keep this in consideration when making arrangements to get home safely."

It is not the first time the singer has angered fans with a late arrival. She kept fans waiting four hours in the rain ahead of her intimate Tears Of A Clown one-off show at Melbourne's Forum Theatre last week.
