David Blaine, the internationally famous magician and illusionist, faces an investigation over two separate allegations of sexual assault.

The 44-year-old New Yorker is alleged to have attacked two women, the second of whom came forward anonymously after hearing the story of Blaine's alleged first victim, Natasha Prince.

Ms Prince, 34, claims she was drugged and anally raped by Mr Blaine at a private home in Chelsea, London, in the summer of 2004.

Blaine denied the allegations but said he is willing to fully cooperate with the investigation, saying he has "nothing to hide".

Ms Prince has since told The Sunday People: "After I told my story, a British ex-model got in contact with me. I got really emotional and started crying."

Blaine gained notoriety for a trick called 'Above the Below' in 2003, in which he suspended himself above the River Thames for 44 days, surviving on nothing but water.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "Officers from the Met's Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating an allegation of rape.

"The allegation was reported to police on November 17 2016 by a woman who alleged she was raped at an address in Chelsea in June or July 2004 when she was aged 21.

"[Police are also investigating] an allegation of sexual assault on Monday, October 23 2017. The offence is reported to have happened against a woman in New York between May and June 1997.

"Specialist officers are supporting the victim."

In a statement to The Daily Beast, Blaine's lawyer, Marty Singer, denied the allegations.

"My client vehemently denies that he raped or sexually assaulted any woman, ever, and he specifically denies raping a woman in 2004.

"If, in fact, there is any police investigation, my client will fully cooperate because he has nothing to hide."
