MasterChef's John Torode reveals 'tumble' saw him rushed to hospital on Boxing Day

The MasterChef star, 51, received treatment at St. Mary's in London after suffering a “lucky escape”.

Torode’s girlfriend, Lisa Faulkner, broke the news to fans on social media, and said he had been left “very bruised”.

The TV star has reassured fans that he is OK and that he was hospitalised after taking a “tumble whilst out riding”.

He tweeted: “Thank you all for your kind wishes. I really am ok but a massive thank you to St. Mary's & the NHS for everything #stmaryshospitalpaddington.

“I really am ok everyone! Thank you, just took a tumble whilst out riding, & posted photo to thank the Docs, nurses and all at St Mary's.”

Torode received an outpouring of support and get well messages from fans after Faulkner posted a picture of Torode laying in a hospital ward on Boxing Day.

She wrote: “Thank you so very much to the lovely docs and nurses yesterday #stmaryshospitalpaddington for looking after my @johntorodecooks who is very bruised but doing well! #luckyescape #blessed.”

One user commented: “Oh no hope John has a speedy recovery and your bedside manner doesn't disappoint xx”

Another posted: “Wish him my best for a speedy recovery. Lots of love xxx”.

A third wrote: "So very sorry to see this, rest up & take care both of you! What a wonderful NHS."

Torode and Faulkner had spent Boxing Day at London hotel Claridge's after a 'wonderful Christmas together' before the accident.
