The cast of Mean Girls have reunited to raise money for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.

On October 3rd, famously dubbed Mean Girls Day because of its reference in the movie, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, Daniel Franzese and Jonathan Bennett got together to make a video asking their fans to donate to their GoFundMe campaign.

“We know today is a special day and that's because of fans like you,” the cast say in the video.

“This year we're doing things a little differently, we want to turn the attention to those who need it. After Sunday night's tragic events in Las Vegas, let's give back.”

One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the National Compassion Fund and they are hoping each person will donate $3 (£2.26) to help reach their $300,000 (£226,000) total.

The National Compassion Fund is an organisation set up to allow the public to donate money directly to victims of mass crimes, like terrorist attacks or shootings.

On Sunday night, at least 58 people were killed and over 500 people injured when Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd at a country music festival in Las Vegas.

The cast have already raised $60,584 (£45,665) of their goal and Bennett donated $1003 himself.

His character Aaron famously asked what date it was to Lindsay Lohan’s character Cady Heron in the movie, to which she replied “October 3rd.”

On the same day the fundraiser was launched, Mean Girls star and writer Tina Fey was handing out cheese fries to fans in New York.

The publicity stunt was put on to coincide with the release of tickets for the Mean Girls Broadway musical, which Fey wrote too.
