Daisy Lowe and Millie Mackintosh were on hand to help Giles Deacon celebrate the launch of his new collection for Debenhams.

The British designer, who’s more used to designing for the A-list than the high street, hosted a cocktail party at the Edition Hotel where he showcased the new pieces for friends including Jade Parfitt and Alicia Rountree.

“They are clothes for everyday women but for when you want to dress up - these are things you can dress up in.

“I never like to go down to a specific age group because there are pieces here for 25-year-olds and then pieces that my mum, who’s 75, could wear.

“I like designing clothes that make people feel good, I know it sounds like a funny thing to say because it’s an obvious thing but, you know, you want someone to have something special and to have a reason behind it.”

Style maven Mackintosh, 26, said: “In London there are so many different types of styles.”

“In just a day if you went round different areas of London you’d see that so many of the areas have completely different styles so you can definitely find your own style within that.

“I love Portobello for vintage boho, Shoreditch is edgier and then Cheslea and Mayfair are more dressed up. I don't have one favourite area - it depends on the day.

“The high street in the UK is better than anywhere else in the world really. It’s even better than the US and they’ve got a really strong high street. You can definitely shop every catwalk look in some way, shape or form on any budget,” she said.

Lowe, 26, who is the face of Deacon’s Debenhams campaign spent the evening deep in conversation with her designer friend.

“Daisy I’ve known for a long, long time and I think she just embodies that sense of character that’s great of the collection.

“She’s got that vivaciousness and she’s also very accessible to lots of women. She’s curvy and just a really smart girl,” said Deacon.
