Miss Piggy saves Tony Bennett from falling off a Thanksgiving Day parade float

Miss Piggy has become an unlikely Thanksgiving hero after saving Tony Bennett from having a nasty fall.

The glamorous Muppets star managed to save the 90-year-old crooner from falling off a parade float in New York on Thursday.

Just after the pair had sung a duet of Santa Claus is Coming to Town on the Macy’s float, the musical legend appeared to lose his footing.

But as he stumbled forward, Miss Piggy averted disaster by putting out an arm to steady him.

“Wow Miss Piggy just saved 90 year old Tony Bennett from falling of his float at the #MacysParade Phew!” wrote one concerned viewer on Twitter.

“OMG Miss Piggy thanks for saving Tony Bennett. We almost lost him. #MacysParade," wrote another.

One impressed viewer posted: “I have never seen a more amazing act of puppetry than Miss Piggy somehow catching a falling Tony Bennett. #MacysParade.”

To reassure worried fans, a representative for Bennett’s released a statement, which read:

“Tony is great and thanks the crowd along the parade route for their warmth and he wishes everyone a very happy Thanksgiving.”

Around 3.5 million people reportedly turned out to see the annual parade through the streets of New York on Thursday.

The 90th annual parade also featured appearances by Aloe Blacc, Regina Spektor, Hamilton’s Christopher Jackson and Kermit the Frog.
