Morgan Freeman: ‘I’m sexist but I’m not a misogynist’

Morgan Freeman has admitted to being ‘sexist’ during a recent press conference.

The Hollywood A-lister said that he was ‘sexist but not misogynistic’ after making a reference to the length of producer Lori McCreary’s skirt.

Speaking at an event organised by the Producers Guild of America earlier this week, the 79-year-old said of McCreary, who is the co-founder of his company Revelations Entertainment:

“She doesn’t want to be thought of as a pretty face. She wants to be thought of as serious. But you can’t get away from the short dresses.”

Panel moderator Mark Gordon jumped in to say: “He’s not a pig, I promise. Maybe he is.”

After Gordon suggested that his comments could be considered sexist, Freeman said: “Sexist? Yes, but I’m not misogynistic.”

While McCreary, who has worked with Freeman since 1996, decided not to chime in, she did speak out about the difference between male and female producers.

After saying that she thought women were better suited to the role, she added: “I think inherently – I might be sexist – my construct is family, bringing people together.

“I’m not saying men aren’t that way.”

Freeman went on to say that McCreary was ‘the boss’ when it came to their production company, describing her as a ‘good person’ and a ‘workaholic’.
