Noel Gallagher reunited on stage with Oasis member to play the hits in Lincoln

Ever since Oasis split in 2009, there have been will-they-won’t-they talks about whether the Gallagher brothers would ever put aside their differences for a big comeback.

While the pair don’t seem to have made up quite yet, there was a mini Oasis reunion at the weekend which saw Noel Gallagher and guitarist Gem Archer get back together on stage to play the hits.

Following Oasis’ split, Noel Gallagher formed his new project High Flying Birds, while the rest of the band - Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock – went on to form Beady Eye.

Archer joined Noel Gallagher live on stage in Lincoln at a High Flying Birds gig for Lincs FM radio at Bishop Grossetest University on Saturday in front of 200 fans. Following a set of High Flying Birds material, Archer’s arrival prompted a slew of Oasis hits including Slide Away, Cast No Shadow, and Wonderwall.

While it is rumoured that the Britpop legends could reunite in 2016, Noel Gallagher didn’t sound so sure when speaking to Chris Moyles on Radio X.

"Probably not in the very near future,” he said of a potential reunion. “One should never say never though, when someone’s waving a cheque for a quarter of a billion…"

He added: "I'm sure there are countless, thousands of people who would love it but there’s one that wouldn’t - me."
