Olivia Newton-John has assured fans that she is “doing great” after recent rumours claimed the actress had “weeks to live”.

The 70-year-old actress revealed she had cancer for the third time last year, with reports in the last few weeks claiming that her health has deteriorated.

Newton-John addressed speculation in a short Twitter video on Wednesday telling fans that the reports have been “greatly exaggerated”.

Smiling to the camera, she said: “Happy New Year everyone, this is Olivia Newton-John and I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote.

"And I am doing great and want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 as possible and thank you all for your wonderful love and support for me and for my Olivia Newton-John cancer wellness centre in Melbourne, Australia.”

The video came a day after representatives for the star – who rose to fame in Grease alongside John Travolta – were forced to deny the recent reports.

Media outlets in Australia and the US had claimed Newton-John was incredibly unwell, but her management slammed the “laughable” reports.

Last week, an unnamed source told Radar Online that her “bodily functions were shutting down”. They said: “She refuses to let go until she makes it through [her daughter] Chloe's wedding day.”

The reports were followed by an Australian site Now To Love who claimed that Newton-John had “weeks not months” to live.

Her US-based manager Michael Caprio dismissed the reports she is at “deaths door” as “hilarious”.

He told news.com.au: “No she has not [only got weeks to live]. You might want to get better sources versus reading tabloids.”

Newton-John has previously spoken about using natural remedies to treat her third bout of cancer, including medical cannabis oil. The star has also under gone radiation therapy and cut out sugar from her diet.
