EastEnders’ star Patsy Palmer is swapping the square for the bright lights of Hollywood.

After playing popular resident Bianca Jackson on and off on the soap for 21 years, Palmer is relocating to Los Angeles with her family to embark upon a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’.

She was introduced to the soap in 1993 as part of the Jackson family and is best known for her temperamental nature and rocky relationship with Ricky.

This isn’t the first time Palmer has headed away from the square. Her character Bianca left London for Manchester in 1993 after an affair with an older man, only returning again permanently in 2008.

Executive producer for EastEnders, Dominic Treadwell-Collins has said: “We are so sad that Patsy has decided to leave us but completely understand it’s the right time for her. Bianca won’t be leaving Albert Square until the autumn and the door will be left wide open for her return.”

She’s not the only EastEnder to try for stardom in Hollywood. Rob Kazinsky, who played Stacey Slater’s brother Sean, left the soap in 2009 and found fame with a starring role as Chuck in blockbuster Pacific Rim.
