Piers Morgan was mocked by British Airways after he joked that he was more important than Brad Pitt during a flight from Cannes to London.

Morgan tweeted that his seat number was an example of his celebrity status – but British Airways mocked his claims and jokingly asked the journalist to move.

Morgan told followers that he was placed in “1A” while Pitt was seated five rows back in “6F”.

The Good Morning Britain presenter joked: “This settles my celebrity status once and for all.”

Not a fan of his name dropping and heightened sense of status, British Airways replied: “Ooops, seems like we made a mistake there, Piers!

"Any chance you could swap with him? ^Anthony.”

Twitter users praised the cutting response with one deeming it the “Best. Tweet. Ever.”

Another posted: "@piersmorgan has just been pied massively there."

The airline later tweeted: “We're only joking of course, Piers. Enjoy the flight! ^Anthony.”

Morgan was also joined by Anna Wintour and Stoke City footballer Jack Butland who Morgan joked was appropriately placed near the back.

Butland quipped: "Not that far back, 4A to be precise, had to look at the back of your head for 2 hours! thank god I slept!"

One Twitter user said they refused to believe Morgan was on a star-studded flight unless he proved it with photos, but the TV regular replied saying he doesn’t pose for selfies with “lesser mortals”.
