Rihanna has been ordered to make some “serious lifestyle changes” after a bout of ill health forced her to cancel shows in Texas.

The 25-year-old singer’s continuing laryngitis has marred her Diamonds World Tour, forcing her to abandon gigs in Houston and Dallas earlier this week and leaving thousands of fans disappointed.

Rihanna revealed she had been ill since her April 11 show in San Diego last week, saying she’d been through “two days from hell”.

Writing on image-sharing site Instagram, she said: "I was sick since San Diego! I kept working because I thought two days off after the Vegas show would be enough time to recover and I f****ed up, those were two days off from hell and today is not different!”

She added: "I'm sad and disappointed about it! I had all kinds of plans for Houston!"

On Monday, the star was pictured leaving a medical centre. Sources say doctors have told her to slow down and to cut down on her incessant partying.

A source said: "Rihanna's illness was so severe, doctors warned it could take months for her to fully recover. They told her she needs to make some serious lifestyle changes, or risk this happening again."

Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour is set to resume tomorrow in Tampa, Florida.
