Rebecca Adlington and Mark Foster walked the red carpet together at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.

The former Olympians, who set tongues wagging with their on-screen chemistry during the Rio Olympics, did nothing to quash the rumours on Tuesday night.

Arriving arm-in-arm at Tate Modern, the pair posed for the cameras on the red carpet before heading inside to sit together at the ceremony.

Adlington, 27, and Foster, 46, who have insisted that their ‘flirting’ was entirely innocent, even shared the same taxi home together.

During their sterling BBC coverage of the Olympics, a number of viewers were quick to note they seemed to be getting on rather well.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Watching the Olympics highlights! It couldn’t be more obvious that there’s something going on between Rebecca Adlington & Mark Foster!”

Writing in the Evening Standard last month, Foster said: “It’s been funny the attention we’ve been getting at the BBC with people remarking on Becky touching my leg.

“But the reality is that Becky does that simply to get my attention either when she has something to say or else she wants me to butt in.”

He added: “I joked to camera when Becky was crying after Adam [Peaty’s] win that it was because I’d just proposed to her! Anyway, it’s just a bit of fun.”

Joking about the rumours on BBC Breakfast, Adlington said that she wasn’t ‘allowed’ to touch Foster’s knee anymore.
