Rebekah Vardy has hit out at Danielle Lloyd after her appearance on This Morning.

On Wednesday, Twitter came to a standstill when Coleen Rooney posted a message which alleged Vardy – or another individual using her Instagram account – had been “leaking” stories about her to the papers.

Vardy, 37, denied the claim and said she “never” speaks to journalists about Rooney, 33, whose rep later doubled down on the accusation.

With the saga continuing to enthral the public, This Morning booked Lloyd to offer her insights during Thursday's episode.

While appearing alongside fellow WAG Lizzie Cundy, Lloyd, 35, was asked whether she thought Vardy was responsible.

She admitted: “I think she did it. Sadly, I really do. And I think it’s a shame because she probably never thought that she was going to get caught out.

“I’ve had run-ins with Rebekah before over similar things, so I wasn’t as shocked," Lloyd concluded.

Tweeting shortly after the live interview aired, Vardy refuted the claim.

She wrote: "Danielle Lloyd making false claims on @thismorning that we have had 'similar run-ins' is utter b*****ks.

"She is just fuming that I 'didn't get Jamie recruiting' for her like she asked me to..."

It is unclear what Vardy's comment about "recruiting" is referring to.

She then added: "On a more serious note I've been inundated with messages from everyone but I'm not saying anything more until we've finished looking into this situation properly."

Lloyd soon responded to Vardy's tweet with her own. She wrote: "Do you mean like how the Sun recruited you luv! #secretwag.

"We are all entitled to our opinions and we all know it came from your account. Attacking me won’t take that away another low blow by you #notagirlsgirl."

Her "#secretwag" comment appears to be a reference to a column in the Sun, which is penned by an anonymous footballer's wife.

All three of the stories Rooney claimed to have faked in order to find out who was "leaking" them were first published by the Sun.

The drama soon became the most-talked about news story of the day and both women's names were trending on Twitter alongside Rooney's latest nickname, Wagatha Christie.

Standard Online has contacted Vardy and Lloyd's representatives for comment.
