Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has got a brand new tattoo in honour of the late David Bowie.

The American musician, who credits Bowie as being his favourite rock star of all time, debuted the inking in a video on his Instagram account on Monday evening,

Having clearly not wasted any time, Flea – real name Michael Peter Balzary – removed a bandage to reveal the singer’s name emblazoned across his arm.

Bowie’s Fill Your Heart can be heard playing in the background of the video as the musician makes the big reveal.

“Bowie was kind to me. He talked about booker little with me. He was warm and generous. He was a great intellectual, a great artist. Rocker.”

A host of stars and fans from all over the world have been paying tribute to the British rocker, who died after a cancer battle at the age of 69.

Many of Bowie’s friends are expected to perform at a memorial convert in New York in March to celebrate his life and work.

Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney are among those thought to be on the line-up.
