Robin Wright has spoken out for the first time in the wake of Kevin Spacey’s Sexual assault allegations, claiming she “didn’t know the man”.

Wright, 52, worked alongside Spacey as political power couple Francis and Carrie Underwood on hit Netflix drama House of Cards.

The actress said she never suspected any suspicious behaviour, saying she only knew him between “actions and cuts”.

Speaking to US show Today, she said: “We were co-workers, really, we never socialised outside of work.

“He was never disrespectful to me. That’s my personal experience – that’s the only thing I feel that I have the right to talk about.”

She continued: “Kevin and I knew each other between actions and cuts, where we would giggle. I didn’t know the man. I knew the incredible craftsman that he is.”

Wright said she hasn’t heard from him in the wake of the allegations and wouldn’t “even know how to reach him.”

She said the House of Cards team were “surprised” and “ultimately saddened” when the allegations came to light.

Asked if she thought Netflix made the right decision in axing him, she said: “I don’t know how to comment on that but I think at that time the shock was so intense all over the nation. I think everybody felt it was respectful to back off.”

The final season of House of Cards will focus on Claire Underwood’s career, after taking over as US president from her on-screen husband.

The latest allegations are said to have taken place in Westminster in 1996, Lambeth in 2008 and the Gloucestershire city in 2013.

Anthony Rapp was the first to level claims against the actor, alleging he was 14 when Spacey, then 26, made a sexual advance on him in 1986.

Spacey said he did not remember the encounter but apologised for any “inappropriate drunken behaviour”.
