Russell Brand 'engaged' to girlfriend Laura Gallacher

Russell Brand is engaged to his long-term girlfriend Laura Gallacher, according to reports.

The controversial comedian threw a party at his Oxfordshire home to break the news to family and friends, The Sun reported.

The news comes a month after it was claimed that Gallacher is expecting her first child with Brand.

The comedian – who was previously married to Katy Perry – is keen to keep his new relationship out of the public eye, with a source telling The Sun: “Russell didn’t want a big fuss this time after his very public relationship with Katy.

“Laura is also keen to keep their romance low-key, so the small, intimate party was very much in keeping with their ‘homebods’ image.

“As they are becoming parents, Russell wanted to do the right thing and make Laura his wife. She’s delighted he asked.”

Brand and Gallacher – who is the younger sister of TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher – have been in an on-off relationship for years.

They dated briefly before splitting in 2007 and were later spotted together in 2009.

It was reported that they rekindled their relationship last year.

Brand is said to be “absolutely made up” at the prospect of becoming a father for the first time and is already discussing baby names with Gallacher.
