Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran to perform at the BRIT Awards

Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift are the first three acts set to perform at the BRIT Awards next year.

Swift, 25, will also make her second appearance at the annual awards ceremony following her performance of I Knew You Were Trouble last year.

Smith – who has been nominated for two Grammy Awards – will make his debut at the event at London’s 02 Arena.

Thinking Out Loud singer Sheeran will return to the stage following his 2012 performance of Lego House.

The 23-year-old topped a poll for the act that the public would most like to see at the music event with with 21 per cent of the vote. In second place and coming slightly behind with 20 per cent was David Bowie, who won the Male Solo Artist prize last year but didn't show up to accept his award.

The Critics Choice Award will go to singer-songwriter James Bay who beat Years & Years and George the Poet to take the award.

The BRIT Awards will take place onWednesday 25 February at London’s O2 Arena and will be broadcast on ITV.
