Comedian Seann Walsh joked about Neil and Katya Jones's split just hours after they announced the end of their marriage, according to new reports.

Walsh, 33, was criticised when he was pictured kissing Strictly partner Katya during a drunken night out last year.

10 months later, the comedian reportedly made light of the pair's separation during his performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on Sunday night - just after the split was announced.

As part of his comedy routine, Walsh referred to himself as a bad boyfriend, a cheat and a liar before making a new joke about the professional dancer, 30, regarding their infamous kiss – which happened while he was dating actress Rebecca Humphries.

Talking about the backlash that dominated headlines, Walsh reportedly said: “I was put into hotels - secret locations so paps couldn’t find me. Now... I’m sort of feeling optimistic, I sat in my bed in my hotel room, and asked Katya to pass me the remote. I’m joking. I never said that before.'”

The Sun reported that when an audience member called the comic a "f***** legend" for the kiss, Walsh quipped: "Where were you ten months ago? I f****** needed you."

Representatives for Seann Walsh have been contacted by Standard Online.

Katya and Neil had their sixth wedding anniversary two weeks ago, yet confirmed they were splitting in joint Instagram statements posted over the weekend.

In their social media post, the couple wrote: “Hi everyone, as our fans and loyal supporters you are really important to us and so we wanted to let you know some news. After 11 years we have made the mutual decision to separate.”

"After 11 years, we have made the mutual decision to separate. We will always love each other, just in a different way as friends. This will never change what a great team we make and we are really proud of everything we have achieved together."

They said that they will "keep dancing together" and will also "explore individual projects."

A spokeswoman for the couple clarified that the decision was not influenced by the controversy surrounding Walsh.

"It would be incorrect and unfair to attribute their separation to one isolated incident," she said.

"Many people make such a decision to separate when they realise that their relationship has become more of a friendship."

Neil and Katya have been together for 11 years and married in 2013.

Walsh and Katya both issued apologies after the kiss photographs were published.

Katya spoke of the "hurt" she had caused with her actions and told fans that her marriage to Neil was "absolutely fine".

After his kiss with Katya came to light, Walsh was publicly dumped by his girlfriend of five years Humphries via a statement posted on Twitter in which she confirmed the custody of their cat Winston.
