Spectre: Bond girl Léa Seydoux admits that she started acting so that people could ‘take care’ of her

James Bond actress Léa Seydoux has admitted that she became an actress so that people could ‘take care of her’.

The 30-year-old French star, who plays Madeleine Swann in the forthcoming Spectre, described acting as ‘refuge’ and a way to escape the pressure of modern life.

She told Vogue magazine: “I don’t like modernity. I don’t have television or the internet at home.

“The internet scares me. I can’t drive a car. That is why I do this job. This is why I became an actress. So that people will take care of me.

Seydoux added: “To be an actress is a refuge. You are taken everywhere, stay in wonderful hotels, everyone looks after you.”

The star, who won the Palme d'Or at Cannes for her role in Blue Is The Warmest Colour, admits that her character isn’t like most Bond girls.

Discussing the character, she said: “I don’t mind the cliché of the Bond girl. But Madeleine, she is very different.

“And to choose me as a Bond girl, it’s a choice. A statement. I’m not the typical James Bond girl.”

Naomie Harris, who plays Eve Moneypenny in the Bond franchise, recently admitted that she wouldn’t date James Bond in real life.

She said: “I think I’d like Bond in real life. Every woman does. It would be great to meet someone like him.

“I don’t think I’d date him. I think he’s a bit too much of a ladies’ man for me.”
