Star Wars: Oscar Isaac reveals that Harrison Ford gave him flying advice for The Force Awakens

Oscar Isaac has revealed that he got some very specific advice from Harrison Ford while preparing for the new Star Wars film.

The US star, who plays X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens, admits that he was overwhelmed by the control panel on the plane.

Speaking on Good Morning America, he said: “I saw a blueprint on my desk, it listed every button that had ever been used in the previous six films in an X-wing so that I knew what did what, and which ones were free for me to imagine anything.

“So it's an incredible amount of detail that goes into this universe.”

Ford, whose character Han Solo captained the Millennium Falcon, offered to give Isaac a tutorial.

“He offered that he would take me up with him, but he did say ‘I was just making it up. And it's in space, so the rules don't really apply to piloting, so you’ve got some room to make it up.’”

Isaac added: “So I think ‘Oh yeah I'll make it up... but then I get a blueprint of exactly what I have to do, and I'm like wait a second! Which one is it here?’”

Speaking about reprising his role, Ford recently told Empire magazine: “It was as warm as fuzzy as you might imagine. It was great to see old friends.”

The eagerly-anticipated new film opens in cinemas on December 18.
