Stormzy performed at the funeral of a fan’s father after replying to a request on Twitter.

The Grime star took time out of his busy schedule to travel to Reading to perform hit song Blinded By Your Grace for Nasir Bockarie and his whole family on Thursday.

Secondary school PE teacher Bockarie reached out to Stormzy on Twitter last week, requesting that the star perform his father’s favourite song.

“Bro my Dad passed away on the day of my graduation last week Friday. Our favourite song of yours was blinded by your grace,” he wrote.

“Would love it if you could perform this at his funeral next Thursday 21st December. Don’t worry if you can’t, I just thought I’d try my luck #Hopeful.”

Despite not expecting a response, Stormzy replied to Bockarie, asking him to follow so that he could send him a direct message.

Bockarie’s cousin Mariama Kallon later tweeted that she was “in shock” that the award-winning musician had agreed to attend.

“I don't want to hear any slander about this man ever because I don't know many people who have a soul to match his,” she wrote on Twitter.

She later told the BBC that star had arrived with “a few members of his team” and performed the hit track on stage in front of the congregation.

“We did the best to give my uncle a memorable send-off and of course Stormzy really made that happen,” she said.

"We're so grateful and our family will be praying for him always.”
