Louise Redknapp has sparked fury among Strictly fans for repeatedly using a swear word during a pre-watershed performance on It Takes Two.

The 43-year-old, who got to the final of last year’s show with her partner Kevin Clifton, was criticised for using the word “b****ing” while closing the show with a version of her 2000 hit ‘2 Faced’.

The performance of the song, which contained the lyrics “'Stop your b****ing, cause you're so sad, b****ing behind my back, honey I don't need that” was before the 7pm watershed.

Viewers took to Twitter complaining that such profanity was not appropriate for younger viewers.

One angry viewer wrote: “Not sure I'm happy about my 8 year old singing stop your b****ing at the top of her voice! Thanks #ItTakesTwo not appropriate for before 7pm.”

Another said: “With regards to Louise's appearance on #ItTakesTwo this evening.... Don't particularly think the term 'b****ing' in the context used was appropriate for that time of evening..... young impressionable peeps watching...”

One commented: “'b****ing' allowed on BBC2 at this time of night?”

Another said: “#ItTakesTwo two words. B****ing. Watershed.”

However others were more accepting of her performance as they were taken back to Redknapp’s glory days on the 1990s pop scene.

One commented on Twitter: "Nice surprise seeing @LouiseRedknapp performing an old classic on £ItTakesTwo. Great live performance £nostalgia £tbt."

"@LouiseRedknapp was superb tonight on @bbcstrictly loved the song and her voice was brilliant £ItTakesTwo," added said.

Tweeting the star directly, another added: "I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your performance on It Takes 2 tonight. Love that song and you've a lovely tone singing it. Hope to hear more from you in 2018 x."

Louise was also spotted wearing her wedding ring despite her recent split from her husband Jamie Redknapp.

The couple hit “hard times” following her stint on Strictly Come Dancing and are reportedly planning to file for divorce after nearly two decades together.
