Sylvester Stallone made sure to correct his Golden Globes acceptance speech as he attended the European premiere of his latest film, Creed.

Stallone, 69, was awarded the Best Supporting Actor gong for his role as Rocky Balboa in the seventh instalment in the boxing franchise, but failed to mention the film’s director, Ryan Coogler, or his co-stars.

Speaking to Edith Bowman at London’s Leicester Square he said, “I forgot to thank my directors,” before praising Coogler and joking that “Michael B. Jordan taught [him] how to box”.

Stallone also admitted that he thought the film’s plot was “far-fetched” when he first read it.

“Rocky was done and I was grateful it ended on an up note,” he said. “To resurrect him I thought it was a long shot and then [Coogler] says ‘you’re not even boxing’ so I thought ‘Oh OK’.

Speaking about his co-star Jordan – who plays his mentee Adonis – Stallone said that their connection on set was “instant”.

“It either works or it doesn’t – like love at first sight,” he said. “Mutual respect at first sight.”

Jordan joined Stallone on the red carpet outside the Empire cinema alongside Tessa Thompson and producer Irwin Winkler.

Carol, Jessica and Mark Wright stepped out for the event just days after bidding farewell to their Nanny Pat.

Other attendees included Duncan Bannatyne, Mark Ronson, Fleur East and Krept and Konan.

Creed is set for UK cinema release on January 15.
