Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are now officially the world's highest paid celebrity couple, surpassing Beyonce and Jay Z.

The pair, who only got together a few months ago, have had combined earnings of $146 million over the last year, according to Forbes.

Beyonce and Jay Z, who were previously sitting at the top spot, are now in second place with $35.5 million less that Swift and Harris - currently standing at $110.5 million.

Swift might only be 25 but her latest album 1989 was by far the best-selling record of last year, selling a record 1.3 million copies in just one week.

The star also has a series of lucrative endorsement deals with brands including Diet Coke and Sony.

Harris became the world's highest paid DJ last year, and was reported to have personally earned a staggering $66 million.

Popstar Swift proved how industry savvy she was early this week when she convinced Apple to change it's music streaming policy after writing an open letter to Senior VP Eddy Cue.

Just a day after Swift refused to let her album 1989 be used as part of a free three-month streaming trial on Apple Music, the company has reversed its policy on paying artists for their music.

In a letter to the company, posted on her Tumblr page, the 25-year-old complained that it was too long for artists to go unpaid, suggesting that Apple should cover the costs.

She wrote: "I find it to be shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company.

Just a few days later, Swift confirmed that she would now be allowing Apple to stream her album 1989, writing on Twitter:

“It's simply the first time it’s felt right in my gut to stream my album”.
