Kaz Crossley has revealed shocking details about the incident which lead to Theo Campbell losing sight in his right eye.

The reality star, 24, was visiting her boyfriend in hospital when she explained how the Love Island 2017 contestant was injured in Ibiza.

In an impromptu Q&A on her Instagram story, Crossley, who was a finalist in the 2018 run of the show, said: “Champagne got in Theo’s eye, and he took his glasses off, he put his head down, and there was basically someone that popped a champagne bottle directly under his face. Unfortunately the cork went right on his eye.

“He’s been here since Sunday and will be released in another two days because we need to wait for the antibiotics to work.”

Crossley, who flew out to Ibiza after Campbell was admitted to hospital, added: “It was really serious, when it happened, the eye was opened and there was a big gash down the middle, which is why he had to go into surgery to have stitches, and then had to go into surgery to have even more stitches.”

Campbell announced that he had lost his sight in his right eye in an Instagram post yesterday and posted this morning that he “did not want to believe his eye is gone forever” in a series of emotional tweets.

Crossley said while Campbell was not aware of who was responsible for the accident, he “holds no hate” as “he’s not that kind of person”.

Describing what happened when she was told, Crossley said: “It was so scary because they said to him, we’re just going to save your eye, your vision is gone, we need to save your eye.

“He rang me as he went into surgery and he was crying so much and that was the first I heard about it, so I came straight here.

“He’s had his ups and downs, so I’ve just made sure I’m there to support him. He’s normally a positive person overall and he’s always got a positive outlook on life.”

In the Q&A, Campbell, 28, expanded on his hopes for his eyesight, saying: “I always preach about being patient and having hope. I think the body, especially my body, can heal from anything. So I’m going to get some vitamins.”

The pair, who are believed to have been dating since March, met after attending a Muay Thai boxing training camp in Thailand.
