In a rocky fortnight for celebs that saw Cheryl Cole, golfer Rory McIlroy, and Kris and Bruce Jenner announce themselves newly single, Timbaland is the latest subject of split-related news.

The music producer - a regular collaborator of Justin Timberlake - has been served divorce papers by his wife of five years, music executive Monique Idlett-Mosley, who is reportedly seeking child support for their five-year-old daughter and her 10-year-old child from another relationship. According to court documents obtained by US gossip site TMZ, Mrs Idlett-Mosley - formerly Monique Idlett - claims that Timbaland has "publicly and privately proclaimed this child as his own".

According to documents she will seek permanent alimony from Timbaland, real name Timothy Mosley, whose fortune is reportedly around $80 million.

Mrs Idlett-Mosley, a strategic expert in the music industry who co-founded the youth organisation the Always Believing Foundation with her husband, allegedly claimed she'd had to borrow money from a friend to pay her lawyer's fees when filing for divorce and requests that he keep supporting her financially while their divorce is pending.

Timbaland is responsible for producing some of the biggest pop hits of the last decade, including Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River and SexyBack, and Promiscuous for Nelly Furtado. He also collaborated with the late Aaliyah on her 1996 album One in a Million.

The star married in 2008 after the birth of his first child, Reign, in November 2007.
