DVD/VIDEO: Following (Momentum Pictures, 15, £19.99/£15.99)

This intriguing little British feature was originally seen by about three people, but nevertheless it catapulted director Christopher Nolan into the Hollywood bigtime.

For my money, it's still his best effort: an effective monochrome jigsaw puzzle that watches friendless writer Jeremy Theobald as he follows strangers as a way of entering their lives.

He links up with Alex Haw, who commits burglaries for the same reason, but the weird partnership crumbles when they break in on a cool blonde with friends in dodgy places. With director's commentary, although a recent interview would have been welcome.
