Trinny Woodall inadvertently criticised Holly Willoughby’s outfit on This Morning.

During her segment, the fashion guru called the combination of pink and black ‘cheap’, oblivious to the fact that those were the exact colours that the host was wearing.

The cringe-worthy moment, watched by thousands, saw Woodall tell the presenters:

“The only thing that is my bête noire is when people take pink and they wear it with black and I think it cheapens and loses the richness of colour when you wear it with black.”

Despite looking directly at Willoughby, she continued: “Later in the VC we’ve got a print in black white and pink – it’s the only way you can wear black with pink.”

A clearly uncomfortable Willoughby then said simply said “okay” before moving swiftly on with the show.

Unfortunately for both Woodall and Willoughby, the presenter decided to team black trousers with a light pink blouse for Tuesday’s show.

Tweeting a snap of her outfit before going on air, she wrote: “Tuesday's look on @itvthismorning ... Trousers by @worldmcqueen shirt by @insidejigsaw shoes by @officeshoes and lipstick (as inspired by my mother!) is @delilahcosmetics shade- stiletto.”

Viewers were quick to pick on the awkwardness, with one person tweeting: “Trinny was pretending not to notice holly is wearing pink and black lol after saying it looked cheap lol #thismorning.”

Another added: “Anyone else finding it awkward that trinny is sl**ging off wearing black and pink and Holly's sitting there in back and pink? #thismorning.”
