Actress Uma Thurman gave a powerful, emotional response when asked about the Hollywood sex scandal.

At the premiere of The Parisian Woman Thurman was asked by The Hollywood Reporter: “What are your thoughts about women speaking out about inappropriate behaviour in the work place?”

In a clip which surfaced over the weekend, Ms Thurman begins by saying that she thinks the actions of the women who had spoken out against the abuse were “commendable”.

She went on: “I don’t have the tidy sound bite for you.

"I am not a child and I have learned that when I have spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself, so I have been waiting to feel less angry, and when I’m ready I will say what I have to say.”

The Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction actress appeared to stress the need to give women the support, patience and space to speak out.

In recent weeks, allegations against a number of high profile figures in Hollywood including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Dustin Hoffman have come to light.

Scores of women have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault. He denies all allegations of non-consensual sex.

The New York Police department has announced that they are investigating rape claims made against the producer.

Met Police are also investigating seven allegations of assault made against Weinstein in the UK.

Spacey has also been accused of sexual assault and harassment by a number of men,

Actor Anthony Rapp was the first to make allegations against Spacey and claimed he had placed him on a bed and climbed on top of him following a party at his apartment in 1986 when he was 14.

Following Rapp's allegation in a BuzzFeed interview, Spacey said in a post on Twitter he did not remember the alleged incident and announced he is living as a gay man.

On Thursday it emerged that the Metropolitan Police had opened an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault made against the star.

On Wednesday, Spacey's representative said the actor was "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment" in light of the allegations.
