Viola Beach’s posthumous album will be released next month via their own record label.

The families of the band have said that the self-titled record is the ‘best way to celebrate’ their sons’ lives after they were all tragically killed back in February.

Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin and their manager Craig Tarry all lost their lives in a car crash in Sweden on their way back from a festival.

An album of their material will be made available for the public to purchase on July 29, featuring lead single Boys That Sing.

A statement released by family members reads: “We are tremendously proud of everything the boys achieved in such a short space of time. Craig, Jack, Kris, River and Tom shared a huge passion, talent and dedication to music.

“We believe the best way to celebrate our sons’ lives is to release an album of their songs.

Tributes paid to Viola Beach

“This is their legacy and we know deep in our hearts that the boys would want the world to listen to the music they poured everything into.

“This was only the beginning for them and these nine songs were written with every intention to be shared, heard and, most of all, enjoyed.”

Following their death earlier this year, the band reached stormed the iTunes charts with single Swings & Water lilies.

A number of high profile stars urged fans to purchase the track to honour the band, including Liam Gallagher and Tim Burgess.

Coldplay are reportedly planning a tribute to the band during their Glastonbury headline set next week.
