Viscountess Emma Weymouth was sworn to secrecy when she signed up for Strictly Come Dancing and was banned from sharing the news with her mother.

The 33-year-old married Ceawlin Thynn, Viscount Weymouth, in 2013 and is the first member of the aristocracy to take part in BBC One’s much-loved competition.

The British Vogue contributing editor and model has been paired with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec.

Speaking to Grazia, she revealed: “I had a dance trial, which was so top-secret I couldn’t even tell my mum.

“Even after I got the job, I had a code name for my first costume fitting - Catwoman - and I wasn’t allowed to refer to the show by its name, or tell anyone what I was doing or where I was going. It was so exciting!”

She added that she is “definitely not” worried about the show’s infamous ‘curse,’ which has seen the breakdown of several contestants’ long-term relationships.

“I’m there to learn to dance,” she told the magazine. “My partner Aljaz’s wife, Janette, is a dancer on the show and she’s incredible.

“We are going to get them both up to [Longleat House, where she and her husband live]. And Ceawlin has been in the live audience, so he met everyone. It is like a family.”

The Viscountess and her partner danced the Cha Cha to She’s A Lady by Tom Jones in the first live show of the series, receiving a total score of 19 from the judging panel.

They will face the public vote in Saturday night’s episode, before one couple leaves the show.

The new issue of Grazia is on sale from September 24. Strictly Come Dancing continues on September 28 on BBC One.
