Olivia Colman revealed she is planning to “get p*****” in celebration of being crowned Best Actress at the BAFTAs.

The British star fought off competition from Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, Melissa McCarthy and Viola Davis to be honoured with the accolade for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite at Sunday night’s ceremony.

Colman was shaking as she struggled to get through her acceptance speech, before telling the audience she will hit the free bar with her fellow cast members after the historical comedy picked up seven out of the 12 awards it was nominated for.

“We’re having an amazing night,” she said. “We’re going to get so p***** later. Yorgos Lanthimos. I can’t think of the words to thank you enough for letting me do this. My most favourite time ever.”

She fought back tears as she paid tribute to her co-stars Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, who won Best Supporting Actress, insisting her award was for all three of them.

“This isn’t for the lead it’s for A lead and as far as I’m concerned all three of us are the same and should be the lead and it’s weird that we can’t do that,” she said. “It’s got my name on it but we can scratch in some others .Thank you so much.”

Colman’s speech in full:

“I do know what to say… I’ve actually written something down. To my fellow nominees to be in the same company as you is such an extraordinary honour. Very shaky, sorry… can’t read it either. All the producers, obvs. And Fox. Nadia [Stacey] and Sandy [Powell] and all of your teams.

“We’re having an amazing night. We’re going to get so p***** later. Yorgos Yanthimos. I can’t think of the words to thank you enough for letting me do this. My most favourite time ever. The thing I really want to do is Emma and Rachel (must keep this together) not just for your performances but for what you did after the cameras stopped rolling. We’ve never talked about this and I find it very emotional but you were the classiest and coolest hnour guards anyone could have. Ems isn’t here but we love you too Ems. I’ve forgotten what I was going to say. Sorry, I swear I’m going to go in a minute.
