US actor Will Smith has recorded his first song in more than a decade.

The 46-year-old lent his voice to Colombian band Bomba Estereo’s remix of dance track Fiesta.

The track sees Smith rap in Spanish as he name drops Sofia Vergara and even refers to himself as "the Fresh one".

Smith accumulated a string of hits in the 90s including Men In Black and Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It., but he hasn't had a top 40 single since his 2005 hit Switch.

Bomba Estéreo's founder Simón Mejia said working with the Focus actor was “magic”.

"When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn't believe it,” he said in a statement. “This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of.

“It's not a traditional featuring – it's just magic. We all had a blast together at the video shoot, and we want to thank Will for being so warm and such a pleasure to work with ... and for rapping in Spanish!"

The track comes months after he announced that he was recording music with Kanye West.

Speaking at the London premiere of his film Focus, the actor revealed: “I went into the studio with Kanye. I'm thinking about it. I'm exploring.”

He continued: "I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet but I'm exploring. I'm in a creative ceiling. My son tells me I have to write out the things I don't like.

“I can't write and stop, I have to keep going and going and write them out. I've never worked like that before but I think I might give that a shot."
