Emily Blunt remembered what day it was and wore a striking pumpkin-coloured dress to receive her British actor of the Year award at last night's Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards.

The idea behind the awards is to celebrate female figures who had made a mark in 2012 - of which there were no shortage.

The Queen was named icon of the year, though she did not attend.

The event was hosted by David Walliams, and among those others honoured were Stella McCartney as British designer of the year, Marion Cotillard as international actor, Emilie Sande as musician and Olympians Jessica Ennis, Victoria Pendleton and Ellie Simmonds as British Ambassadors of the year. Dame Vivienne Westwood got the inspiration of the year award.
