Gillian Anderson has stripped off in the latest PETA campaign against wearing animal fur.

The actress can be seen in nothing but a pair of cat ears in the racy shoot, using only her hands to cover her modesty.

Strewn across the image in pink ink is the caption: “I’d rather go naked than wear fur.”

Speaking about the shoot to PETA, Anderson said: “I found it liberating to use my body to make an important statement.

“People tend to look away from anti-fur ads showing mangled animals, but they’re drawn to PETA’s ‘naked’ campaign, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

The image will be shown on a billboard in New York to coincide with Fashion Week in the city.

The organisation say that the actress’ statement comes in the wake of designers Michael Kors and Gucci announcing that they will no longer use fur after protests and negations by PETA US.

The X-Files: Gillian Anderson is best known as Dana Scully in the sci-fi hit
Channel 5

Earlier this week, Anderson revealed that she believes The X-Files has “always been a political show”.

Speaking to London Live ahead of the launch of series 11 of the sci-fi show, the actress, who plays Dana Scully said the series taps into issues relating to the government and even the President.

“It’s always been a political show. We’re FBI agents,” she said. “We work for the government and so it can’t not tap into some of those, the issues that are part of the political framework.

“Whether that goes as high as the President or whether it’s just amongst the other agents and the secrets of the stories that are kept under wraps, it’s all political.”
