Zayn Malik has surprised his fans by releasing a brand new track out of the blue.

The former One Direction star, whose debut single Pillow Talk topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, dropped Like I Would on Thursday morning.

With very little notice, the 23-year-tweeted his followers to say: “hey what's up it's been awhile. Turn this sh** up !!!! LIKE I WOULD .”

He then linked to the audio of the new track, which follows his last offering It’s You, which was released last month.

The upbeat new song is from Malik’s forthcoming debut album Mind of Mine, which is set for release in just two weeks.

Malik was spotted shooting scenes for his new music video in Manchester earlier this week, which is thought to be slightly grittier than the one for Pillow Talk.

Speaking about his last track, It's You, which is thought to be about his break-up with Perrie Edwards, Malik recently told Zane Lowe.

“There’s a song on the record called It’s You which is to me I can tell a real centre-piece for the album. Vocally certainly.

“It’s about the break-up of your relationship, clearly.”
