Cher and Christina Aguilera "understand" one another.

The 'Believe' singer - who stars opposite the 29-year-old hitmaker in new movie 'Burlesque' - admitted the pair have been through similar experiences in their lives, which she believes helped the two stars to "connect".

She said: "You just understand the person. Our relationship was good on screen and off screen. Of course I've been through all the things that she's going through so you can tell somebody, 'I did this. This is what happened. Don't sweat that. Watch out for that'.

"It was a way of connecting that also made us connect closer on the set."

Christina has since filed for divorce from her husband Jordan Bratman, something twice-divorced Cher could identify with.

However, the 64-year-old star puts her successes down to "luck", as in her opinion she is a "dinosaur" in the music business.

Cher added to Starpulse: "It's luck. It's truly luck. There's all the other little things thrown in but it's luck. I'm a dinosaur in this kind of business. I started in a different business."
