Mark Lester

Disney's first child star Bobby Driscoll found fame in Song Of The South and Treasure Island. He died a drug addict, alone in a New York squat, and was buried in a pauper's grave.

River Phoenix impressed critics in Stand By Me and The Mosquito Coast. At 18, he was nominated for an Oscar for Running On Empty. In 1993, despite a thriving career, he died of an overdose.

Macaulay Culkin was earning £10million per film after starring in Home Alone. Yet despite amassing a fortune, a legal row with his parents saw his riches and career falter. He was arrested last year for possessing cannabis.

Judy Garland was given drugs to boost her energy while making The Wizard Of Oz. She became hooked and died of an overdose in 1969, aged 47.
