Tonight, the turbo-charged Brian Conley takes over in the driving seat from Jason Donovan as the inventor Caractacus Potts in this spectacular family entertainment.

It's nearly a full revamp of the show's cast, as ageing glam-rocker Alvin Stardust nets the role of the Child Catcher (looking much the same as he ever does in full Vulgarian garb), and former Chicago star Jo Gibb becomes the new Miss Truly Scrumptious.

Adrian Noble's original production, adapted by Jeremy Sams from the film of Ian Fleming's story, remains a resounding hit with children, while adults are likely to find amusement in its lightly satirical tone. Throughout the changes of personnel, one thing remains a constant - the gobsmacking, show-stopping, flying motor, the true star of a beautifully designed show.
