Variety: a slightly overblown episode, brimming with style and characteristically short on substance.

Screen International: big-screen version turns the stylish series into a darkly intense, contemporary crime drama with a vivid digital video look and brooding performances.

New Yorker: the general tone is darker, danker, dirtier, and much more violent... fascinating, certainly, and impressive at times, but only intermittently enjoyable.

Entertainment Weekly: Miami Vice is so cool that it's almost too cool. It takes the sin and much of the juice out of vice.
