Denise leads Vanguard

Denise Van Outen and Lisa Snowdon were among the stars supporting breast cancer charities at the Pink Ribbon Party.

DJ Harriet Scott - recently linked to a newly single Chris Evans - was also at the evening of fashion and music at the Waldorf Hilton.

The event was presented by Snowdon, who was dazzling in scarlet chiffon.

Former Steps band members Lisa Scott-Lee and Faye Tozer were also at the party, which featured fashion shows including La Senza and Eric Way, the designer for the Sex And The City TV series.

The gala was held as campaigners urged more women to be screened for breast cancer.

In some parts of the country, up to half of those eligible do not turn up for mammograms, according to figures from Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The charity, together with the all-party parliamentary group on breast cancer, called on Health Secretary John Reid to make the screening service more flexible and accessible.

All women between 50 and 70 are invited for screening, but in London only 51 per cent took up their appointments. Lack of time was cited as a major factor in women missing their tests.

Campaigners today urged screening services to communicate the importance of mammograms more clearly and make testing more convenient for working women.

Hosted by Pink Ribbon Magazine and sponsored by Heart FM as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, proceeds from the evening went to Battersea's Cancer Resource Centre, Breast Cancer Haven and Positive Action on Cancer.
