She told BBC Radio 1 listeners that items including her phone were swiped during the early-morning raid - but the burglars left an album by band Keane behind.

Burgled: Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox

Cox told how the break-in happened at 3am, adding: "Don't worry, everything's fine."

Appealing to listeners to keep a look-out for her belongings, she said: "If you are in a pub in north London this evening and you get offered a copy of The Emperor's New Groove, a Sony Ericsson phone or a computer, buy it and then bring it back to me."

The Bolton-bred 32-year-old said she was "gutted".

Cox continued: "They did leave a Keane album on the lawn in the front garden.

"I don't think it's a reflection on the musical talent of Keane. I think they must just have dropped it at 3am.

"The dog was barking. He went mad. I went down and told him to shut up.

"But he barks at badgers, cats, he barks at his own shadow and he knew something was going on and I didn't believe him.

"This morning he was looking at me, like: 'I tried to tell you, mummy, I was barking a lot'."

Talking about the police investigation into the incident, she added: "There's a lot of boys at my gaff at the moment doing fingerprints and stuff like that."
