Rock star Pete Doherty today pleaded guilty to four drugs charges

The Babyshambles front man admitted possession of heroin, crack cocaine, morphine and cannabis when he appeared before Thames magistrates in east London.

He was earlier charged after answering bail at Stoke Newington police station in northeast London this morning following his arrest on December 4.

Sentencing was adjourned until February 8, when Doherty, 26, will also be sentenced for two separate drugs charges he admitted on January 11.

The singer, who appeared in court wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and brown shoes, was released on bail until his next court appearance before Ealing magistrates.

Outside court, Doherty said he now planned to travel to Stoke where he is due to play a previously cancelled concert, adding: "It's like the 19th time it's been called off."

Police stopped the car Doherty was driving in Millfield Road, Hackney, east London, at 2.15am on December 4 and searched it for drugs.

They found .923 grams of heroin, .087 grams of crack cocaine, .037 grams of cannabis and a quantity of morphine, the court heard.

Doherty was also arrested at the weekend just days after pleading guilty in court to possessing heroin and cocaine.

The rock star was held in Dunlace Road, Hackney, at 8.15am on Saturday on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug.

Doherty also appeared before Ealing magistrates' court in west London on January 11, where he admitted two charges of possessing Class A drugs which were found when police stopped his car on November 30.

The court heard that Doherty was due to return to Stoke Newington police station today and on February 6 in relation to separate allegations of possessing "small amounts" of drugs.

The magistrates released the singer on unconditional bail, ordering him to return to the same court on February 8, when he will also be sentenced for the charges he admitted today.
